The 2000 season of the DTM (German Touring Car Championships) thrilled European motorsports fans with plenty of fender-to-fender action unfurled by three major car manufactures: Mercedes-Benz, Opel, and Audi. Building on this excitement for the 2001 season, the race format was changed from two 100km races on the same day to one 35km super sprint qualifier race, followed by the 100km main race with mandatory tire change. As in the 2000 season, Opel entered eight finely tuned machines in the race. Various improvements were made to some of these machines including extended wheel bases and modified aerodynamics. Although the basic form of these racecars did not differ greatly from the production version of the Opel Astra, some were given large bumper spoilers, over-fenders, side-skirts, rear-wings, and other race-oriented goodies. But perhaps the most salient characteristic of the 2001 cars was the gull-wing doors that opened and closed via roof-mounted hinges. The machines were equipped with 460hp outputting 4-liter V8 engines, which transferred power to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission. Behind the wheel for one of the three machines entered by Team Holzer was expert driver Joachim Winkelhock in his vivid orange colored machine. Although Opel Team Holzer had a difficult time obtaining noteworthy race results during the first half of the season, the team`s winning potential was revealed when Winlkelhock took 4th place during the 5th race at Norisring, where the cars battled it out on public roads closed to traffic.

About the NISSAN Fairlady Z 300ZX
In 1984, Datsun adopted the name Nissan to expand their vehicles to the American Market. Z-cars refers to the Datsun/Nissan sports car series which were developed to give consumers a dependable, reasonably priced car with high performance. The Nissan Fairlady 300ZX Z31 was the third and fourth line of Z-cars. The chassis is an enhanced version of the 280ZX. Both the 300ZX and 280ZX chassis have the same wheelbase and semi-trailing arm independent suspension. However, the 300ZX was superior in handling and acceleration. Introduction
In 1997, Tamiya released the street version of the Alpine A110 as a 1/24 scale model, and its perfect duplication of the car`s nostalgic design was a big hit. Now, Tamiya presents the rally version of the Alpine A110, representing the car that won the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally.
The Alpine was developed by Jean Redele, who initially raced with the Renault 4CV. He soon noticed the limitations of its heavy body, and decided to replace it with his own design made of FRP. Redele drove a modified 4CV, dubbed the Alpine, to victory in the Mille Miglia road race in 1955, and continued to develop new versions based on Renault cars. The Alpine A110 was released in 1963, and was based on the Renault 8. It had a 956cc 4-cylinder engine at the rear and lightweight body shell made of FRP. Front suspension featured the independent double wishbone type, while the rear used swing arms. The A110 proved its ability by dominating road races held throughout the late 60`s and early 70`s, with its win at the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally undoubtedly crowning the pinnacle of its career. With its successful record and beautiful design, the Alpine A110 is adored by motor sports fans worldwide.

In the 1976 F1 World Championships, Tyrrell P34 six-wheeler made its debut and demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the season. In the following season, P34 obtained First National City Bank as its main sponsor and changed its cowl painting to blue and white two-tone. The P34 in this season featured full engine cowling to improve aero-dynamics and was driven by P. Depailler and R. Peterson. Tyrrell encountered trouble when the development of P34`s unique front tires stagnated as a result of the tire war between Michelin and Goodyear, but they continued their efforts to win by making minor-alterations to their P34 machines throughout the season.

About the Ferrari F189 PORTUGUESE GP
To comply with the drastic regulation changes that took effect starting the 1989 F-1 racing season, the Ferrari team brought out their revolutionary F189 type 640 machine. Designer John Barnard and his staff have successfully developed a unique but very effective racer. The very esthetic body styling resembling a vase when viewed from above, is the result of extensive wind tunnel testing, and is said to provide better internal airflow. The normally aspirated, 3.5 liter displacement powerplant is Ferrari`s traditional 12 cylinder in a V format, and incorporates 5 valves per cylinder. One of the more controversial features of this racer is the semi-automatic gear box. It is an electronically controlled, seven-speed gear box that aides the awesome powerplant in keeping its RPM powerband viable during all out competition circuit runs. The system is activated by a rocker located behind the steering wheel. The conventional clutch pedal is still present, but it is used only for starting the racer. The shock absorbers for the front push rod suspension system are mounted on top of the front monocoque section, enabling the racer to obtain an exceptionally narrow nose. When combines with the remarkable talents of drivers Nigel Mansell and Gerhard Berger, the Ferrari F189 has delighted motorsports fans with first class performance throughout the 1989 season.

In 1967, motorcycle-1-6-honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>Honda pioneered the field of "leisure motorcycle-1-6-motorcycle-1-6-honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>motorcycles" with the release of the Monkey. That charming machine was equipped with tiny five-inch tires, a rigid suspension, and unique folding handlebars, which enabled its loading into a passenger car. The uniqueness of the Monkey made it an instant hit among the young and young at heart. Over the years, the little Monkey continued to mature, undergoing several modifications including the incorporation of eight inch tires and an improved suspension system. In August 1978, motorcycle-1-6-honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>Honda released the big brother of the Monkey, and appropriately named it "Gorilla".
Save the gas tank and seat, the Gorilla adopted fundamentally the same parts as the Monkey. The most defining aspect of the Gorilla is its swelled chest, an oversized gas tank, which boasts a capacity of 9 liters. And while the Monkey was equipped with folding handlebars, the Gorilla got fixed ones. The main reason was that while the Monkey was designed to be loaded into a car and transported to the riding area, the Gorilla was made to get there on its own power. And as the Monkey was to be loaded, the Gorilla was designed to load, equipped with two large baggage carriers, one on the front and one on the rear. The 9 liter gas tank and superb 70km per liter mileage provided a maximum continuous running distance of 630km, on par with most passenger cars of the same era. Its powerplant was the same as the monkey, a 49cc aircooled single cylinder SOHC engine, which was also used on motorcycle-1-6-honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>Honda`s best selling Super Cub. The Gorilla was also equipped with a manuel 4-speed transmission, opposed to the automatic 3-speed system of the Monkey.
Like its little brother, the Gorilla underwent various improvements until 1992, when production was ceased. The popularity of the machine, however, did not dwindle, with the few remaining used Gorillas fetching premium prices. It was February 1998 when motorcycle-1-6-honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>Honda resumed production, this time bringing out a new Gorilla equipped with the Monkey`s large headlamp and using chrome parts on the headlamp casing, fender, and other places. Although the front carrier was removed, the huge gas tank was left untouched, and the seats were redesigned with riding comfort in mind. January 1999 saw the production of 3500 "motorcycle-1-6-honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>Honda Gorilla Spring Collection" machines. This version was meant to shine, and features chrome parts on virtually every visible part of the bike. The gas tank, the side-cover, the front forks, the chain case, the wheels, the exhaust pipe cover, even the frame and swing arm glisten with gorgeous chrome. This undeniably attractive exterior, combined with motorcycle-1-6-honda-gorilla-big-scale-16031.html>Honda`s reliable mechanics underneath, promise a bright and shiny future for the Monkey`s big brother.

About the U.S.M151A2 Ford Mutt Model
Back in early 1957, a familiar looking small vehicle was seen to be running over the Aberdeen, Maryland proving ground. It turned out to be the Ford M151 MUTT, a replacement vehicle for the well known M38A1 "Jeep". The MUTT looked very much like it older brother. Both were small, compact, rugged, simple to operated and maintain; however, the M151 incorporated all of the latest advanced features, such as a newly developed OHV engine, light semi-monocoque body and 4 wheel independent suspension system. These features allowed it to outpoint all other submitted replacement vehicles for the ageing jeep. Development work on this vehicle started at the beginning of 1953 by the Ford Motor Company and the U.S. Army, and it was officially adopted as the replacement vehicle in July 1957. Kaiser Industries and the American Motor Company were licensed to produce the vehicle and they delivered approximately 10,000 units annually to the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. It was shortly adopted by the other nations of the free world as a replacement for their own light utility vehicles. Some of the advancd features incorporated in the M151 caused some initial problems, such as the strength of the rear suspension system, but these and other minor problems were corrected during the 1964-70 time period. The M151A2, currently in service, has added safety features such as a stiffer rear suspension, large blinker lamps, a two step windshield wiper, safety glass and an impact absorbing steering wheel. Because of its extreme versatility, the basic M151 can be altered to a combat amublance; radio communications vehicle, TOW missile launcer, and the Viet Nam conflict proved it was a true go anywhere combat weapon. Add to this the hauling capability of the matched M416 cargo trailer and you have a tremendous resupply vehicle combination. Furnished to combat units at one trailer to three 1/4 ton vehicles, the trailer is utilized to carry fuel and rations to the combat troops on the front lines and came into being at the same time as the M151. With a light weight of 260kg, and a load hauling capacity of 1/4 ton, the combination is easily air transportable, launched and recovered. The life span of the trailer greatly exceeds that of the motorized vehicle, because they are so simply constructed. Many can be found at civilian surplus depots, and seen on roads and highways going to and from the wilderness areas carrying the camping gear and food for an extended stay in the wilds. A military scene without a 1/4 ton trailer in view would be a rare scene indeed.

About the British Utility Car 10HP
British forces used passenger car chassis, during WWII, as the basis for pick-up style military vehicles. Officially identified as a "Light Utility Car" soldiers called them affectionately by the nickname "Tilly". The vehicle was equipped with a 30hp engine and rear wheel-drive. However, the car did not have sufficient off-road abilities and was soon replaced by 4WD vehicles. As a result, the "Tilly" was used in airbases for liaisons and in other paved areas. The vehicle served in the Dunkirk evacuation, North African and Italian fronts, and Europe from the Normandy invasion on.

The Special Air Service Regiment is one of the most famous Units in the British Army, though it is one of the youngest, dating back to 1941. The short period since the SAS came into being is packed with action, first in W.W. II and since in many small "cold war" activities in which Britain has been involved. The SAS has a history of almost continuous combat action of one kind or another. By the nature of its activities since W.W. II, when for operational reasons its work has not been widely publicised, all sorts of legends have grown up - some of them false- about what it actually does.
In essence, the function of the SAS has not changed greatly since it was established. It is a small, highly mobile, highly trained force able to carry out surveillance, reconnaissance or attack missions.
The first use of the name "Special Air Sercive Regiment" goes back to 1940 when it was given to the first troops selected for parachute training. However the name of this Unit was soon changed to the Parachute Regiment, forming the backbone of Britain`s airborne forces.
It was in the Middle East that Lt. David Stirling, a Scots Guards Officer serving with No.8 Commando, had the idea of forming a small "airborne commando", which could strkie at the enemy from behind, attack supply dumps, airfields, and other important centres, cause the maximum damage and confusion and then melt away into the desert. The conception was that the small attack force would be dropped at night, well clear of the target area, strike, then make good their escape accross the desert. They would rendezvous with the Long Range Desert Group and make their way back.
Approval was given for such a force, and Stirling picked volunteers from Commandos and other Units. The Unit was named "L Detachment SAS, Brigade", mainly to confuse the enemy, who, knew that this name had been given to paratroops training in England and might suppose that parachute battalions had now been sent to the Middle East.
During the summer 1941 the SAS unit undertook intensive training, particularly in parachuting and desert survival, and experimented with types of demolition explosive. The first raid, in November, 1941 was not a success due to high winds and poor weather, which dispersed the men during the parachute drop.
A more precise way of getting to the target was needed and one obvious way was to use the L.R.D.G. Trucks as a way of carrying the SAS to a dropping-off point where they could attack, then rejoin the L.R.D.G. patrol for return to base. The L.R.D.G. meanwhile carried on their normal task, the SAS men going as "passengers". A series of very successful operations followed, and by early in 1942 the SAS had become a force to be reckoned with.
Stirling, by now Major, designed the Regiment`s famous winged dagger badge with its motto "Who Dares Wins" and this was worn instead of the badges of the Units from which they had volunteered.
For a series of raids in the spring of 1942 the SAS acquired their own 30 cwt. trucks similar to the L.R.D.G.
In the summer of 1942, the Jeep was available and from then the SAS acted more independently carrying out many sorties with its own armed Jeeps. Tamiya Kit MM-133 is a replica of one of the Jeeps, and is characteristic of the type of raiding vehicle, bristling with guns and packed with sotres and ammunition, that the SAS has used ever since.
The end of the campaign in the Western Desert saw the SAS become the 1st special Air Service Regiment, and it went on to operate in Italy. Meanwhile, further Regiments had been raised.
SAS men also aided various partisan forces in Eastern Europe, including the Albanians. Almost every counter insurgent operation since has involved the SAS. Training is tought, and the conditions of entry are extremely stringent.
Up to the early 60`s the Jeep remained the principal vehicle, since then the ubiquitous Land Rover has been employed. Since 1970 the SAS has used a more refined conversion of the long wheel base Mk II, as depicted in this kit. This version lacks windscreen and side doors, but carries mounts for two general purpose machine guns.
Normal crew is three: driver, commander (and front gunner), radio operator (and rear gunner). Sometimes a fourth man is carried.
3 smoke candle dischargers are mounted at each corner of the vehicle and special equipment includes a spotlight , pioneer tools, stowage locers, and a rear tailboard extension which is used to carry stores: sand channels are another item, but other equipment, such as a radio set, is fitted depending on operational requirements. With extra fuel tanks the vehicle has a road range of 1,100 miles and weighs 3 tons fully stored and equipped. while the Land Rover is the standard patrol vehicle, SAS Units may employ other vehicles as conditions demand. In desert operations the SAS Rovers are painted to suit the terrain, a sand-pink, which has led to the nickname "Pink Panther" being applied on occasion.

About the British QUAD Gun Tractor
During WWI, many nations began using motorcars for various military purposes such as hauling guns. Vehicles were classified in various categories according to their purpose such as armored cars, tanks and self-propelled guns that carried hand-held artillery, and gun tractors that were designed for hauling weapons. During this time, the British, who had the most advanced full-track and half-track technology, began realizing the advantage of using motorcars in the military. They began developing several tractors for the sole purpose of hauling artillery. The British produced uniquely shaped gun tractors, known as the `Quad`, which had an angular body and short wheelbase with large wheels. The following four Quad gun tractors were developed: Guy Quad Ant, Morris Commercial C8 Mk I & Mk II Quad, Karrier KT 4 Indian Quad, and Canadian Military Pattern (CPM) Quad manufactured in Canada. The military primarily use the CMP Quad during the war, due to its quality and mass production. The CMP Quads including the FAT-2 Quad gun tractor were very good vehicles and simple to operate. They continued on active service in the British Commonwealth forces for about 15-20 years even after the war.

About the German Sd.kfz.250/9 Model
For some time the excellent Ds.kfz 250 had been converted by front line troops for radio control use, also as ammunition carriers and for various other roles. This chassis was further converted and the Sd.kfz 250/9 was born. This conversion was required to be mass produced from readily available components. This vehicle possessed good mobility and reliability and with its front-mounted engine afforded a degree of protection to its three man crew, especially from a frontal hit. The disadvantages were in its complicated servicing, poor acceleration and turning circle, and the noise it made. However, being equipped with tracks far outweighed these disadvantages. The Sd.kfz 250/9 was one of the successful vehicles in the vehicles classified comprising of bodies and other portions mass-produced originally for other vehicles.

Introduction
About the Sd.Kfz.139 Marder III During their invasion of Russia in 1941, the German army discovered that their tanks were inferior to the Russian T34. While new tanks were developed and existing tanks were upgraded as a countermeasure, interim solutions were sent into action. One of these was the Sd.Kfz.139 Marder III, which was a captured Russian 76.2mm field gun that was modified and mounted onto a Panzer 38(t) chassis. These tank destroyers saw action on all battlefronts and provided reliable service until the end of the war.

The Patrol Boat, River or PBR as it was known militarily, became one of the most successful weapons systems used in Southeast Asia. It was 31` 11" long ; 11; 7" wide, and 9`9" high above the waterline. It displaced 8 3/4 tons loaded drawing two feet of water. It`s crew of four was armed with a pair of .50 cal gun or grenade launcher mounted on a tripod in the fantail, plus a single M-60 on a pipe mount bolted to one of the amidships splinter shields. It was powered by two turbocharged Detroit Diesel 205 HP, V-6 marine engines, driving a pair of Jaccuzzi 14JY water jetdrives. The engines were located underneath the aft decking, and the boat was steered by two movable nozzles below the water line, mounted on the rear transom. The water intakes were located on the hull bottom. It had a top speed in excess of 25 knots. Surface radar and two-way radio equipment provided communication and maneuvering safety.

The motorcycle-1-12-suzuki-gsx1100s-katana-14010.html>Honda motorcycle-1-12-suzuki-gsx1100s-katana-14010.html>motorcycle-1-12-suzuki-gsx1100s-katana-14010.html>motorcycle-1-12-suzuki-gsx1100s-katana-14010.html>motorcycle-1-12-suzuki-gsx1100s-katana-14010.html>CX500 attracted attention for its advanced engine techniques and the Katana for its advanced and aggressive body styling, which broke from common traditional motorcycle-1-12-suzuki-gsx1100s-katana-14010.html>motorcycle styling. Although the Katana GSX1100S styling impressed the many thousands of viewers, almost everybody thought that it was just for show and the production model would be quite different
During the summer of 1981, Suzuki released the production Katana with almost exactly the same body styling seen at the Cologne show, with subtle improvements in the engine and running gear. The body styling is from the genius of Mr. Hans A. Muth of West Germany, who spent much time ensuring driver comfort in his design, and which proved out in many wind tunnel tests. The entire styling was derived from research on the best drivers position, and the rearward placed backsteps and unique tank styling were not done just for the pleasing jet age appearance.
Large capacity fuel tank and small fairing were blended together for the best airflow around the rider and the bike. Although the bike is most noticeable for its styling, every part in it is quality. Engine is an air-cooled, parallel 4 of 1075cc, using 16 valves. With unique Suzuki TSCC (Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber) in the engine, it puts out 111 hp. This tremendous power transmits into a road speed of 230 k/ph and its unique body styling keeps it stable even at these high speeds. Suzuki is shipping a 1000cc Katana GSX1000S to the American market, and also a 750cc version to the European market as well. Requests form Japanese enthusiasts prompted Suzuki to also market a 750cc Katana GSX750S to their market.
